Blast in Quetta’s market kills over a dozen, injures many

At least 14 people were killed and several others were injured in a blast in Quetta's Hazarganji area on Friday morning.

According to local media reports, the blast occurred at a vegetable market. The reason behind the blast has not been ascertained yet. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdul Razzaq Cheema has confirmed the death toll. One Frontier Corps soldier was also killed in the blast while eight of those killed belonged to Hazara community.

Police, rescue teams and Frontier Corps personnel reached the site of the blast and have cordoned off the area. The injured have been shifted to Bolan Medical Complex. Rescue workers fear that the death toll may rise.

Condemning the Quetta blast, Prime Minister Imran Khan has sought an inquiry report into the incident. The PM has also directed to provide best possible medical treatment to the injured.
