Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Saturday that Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) efforts to win upcoming elections by claiming to down Pakistan's F-16 has backfired.

After US officials debunked India’s claim of shooting down Pakistan’s F-16, the premier took to his Twitter handle and wrote that truth always prevails and is always the best policy. The premier further said that BJP's attempt to win elections through whipping up war hysteria and false claims of downing a Pak F 16 has backfired.

He added that the US defence officials had also confirmed that no F16 was missing from Pakistan's fleet.

Recently, two senior US defence officials with direct knowledge of the situation said that India misled the international community as US personnel had recently counted F-16s in Pakistan and found none missing.
