SHC turns down Zardari, Talpur pleas against banking court verdict

02 Apr, 2019

The petitions against the banking court verdict were filed by Farooq H. Naik — who is the counsel of the PPP leaders.

Petitioners challenged the verdict on the ground that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) wrongly interrupted the decision of the Supreme Court to transfer the case to accountability court in Islamabad.

NAB prosecutor contended that the case was transferred in accordance with the verdict of apex court on Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

It is worth to mention here that, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was probing the case involving fake bank accounts and have arrested Omni Group owner Anwar Majeed and owner of a private bank during the course of investigation. Now the case has been transferred to NAB.

July 6, The FIA filed a case in the banking court which conducted the hearing for eight months.

Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur have acquired protective bail to avoid arrest.
