FBR suspends raids on business community for 15 days

This has been stated by Doctor Hamid Ateeq Sarwar FBR Member (Inland Revenue - Policy) and FBR Member (Inland Revenue - Operations) Seema Shakil (BS-21) while addressing a media briefing, held at the FBR House here Thursday.

They said that the raids have been suspended as a good gesture on the request of the business community. Chambers and trade bodies have assured their cooperation in recovery of due amount of taxes from business community. When Prime Minister Imran Khan went to Karachi and met Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), the business community had raised the issue of raids on business and trade.

When asked whether former President Asif Ali Zardari has been issued notice in a vehicle case, FBR Member (Inland Revenue - Operations)  Seema Shakil (BS-21) confirmed “yes” notice has been served and relevant office in Karachi which is dealing the case.

Through enforcement actions, the FBR has raised tax demands of Rs 8.2 billion during the last three months and tax of Rs 3.8 billion has been received, Hamid Ateeq Sarwar added.

The FBR will issue sales tax refund bonds to 78 refund claimants involving Rs15 billion by April 5, 2019, Hamid Ateeq Sarwar added.
