A day after the Punjab Assembly passed a bill raising the salaries of its assembly members, the chief minister and ministers, a Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed disappointment calling the decision untenable when Pakistan is struggling with providing basic amenities to citizens.

The premier took to his Twitter handle and wrote, "I am extremely disappointed by decision of Punjab Assembly to raise pays & privileges of Members of Punjab Assembly, ministers and especially chief minister".

The premier further said that this move by the Punjab Assembly could be justified if the country prospered. However, the prime minister added that for now, this move is untenable as Pakistan does not have resources to even provide basic amenities to all people.
