Women’s Day: PM ‘reaffirms commitment’ to ensure secure, enabling environment for women

On International Women's Day, Prime Minister Imran Khan has reaffirmed his commitment to ensure a secure environment for women to play their rightful role in Pakistan.

Taking to his Twitter, the premier payed tribute to Fatima Ali Jinnah for standing steadfast beside Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah in his struggle for Pakistan. The prime minister further wrote, "We reaffirm our commitment to ensuring women a secure and enabling environment to play their rightful role in our nation's development."

International Women's Day is observed across the world on March 8. Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari also tweeted on this day and said, " Today not only celebrates womanhood but also highlights the road women still have to traverse in society to reach the goal of empowerment."

Finance Minister Asad Umar contended that Pakistan cannot prosper unless women are given the chance to live their lives to their full potential.

On this occasion, to commemorate Women's Day, the Aurat March 2019 is set to take place in all major cities of Pakistan. Senator Sherry Rehman took to her Twitter handle to write that she was taking part in the march, "I march for my less fortunate sisters who suffer daily indignities."
