Stressing that the world is already witnessing too many conflicts, Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn said on Thursday that no one wants to see another armed conflict between Pakistan and India.

The minister was addressing a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on his maiden visit to Pakistan. Luxembourg FM further said that it was an honor to be received with his delegation in the 'big country'.

Speaking about the tension between Pakistan and India over Kashmir, the Luxembourg FM said that the whole international community has expressed serious concerns about the dangerous escalation between the two neighbors following the Pulwama attack.

He said, "It is of utmost importance to de-escalate the situation [between Pakistan and India]." He added that they highly welcome Prime Minister Imran Khan's decision in sending back the Indian pilot.

Luxembourg FM further said that although Luxembourg was ready to mediate the tension between the two neighbors, the country's mediation potential was not strong enough to resolve the problem in Kashmir. To his statement, FM Qureshi replied that Luxembourg should not underestimate itself.

Asselborn said that Pakistan strategic engagement plan is in its final stages of adoption and it is foreseen that European Parliament will settle the new strategic plan in the near future.

FM said that during their meeting, the matter of summit-level talks between Pakistan and the European Union was also discussed. Earlier, the two counterparts had a meeting in which a wide range of regional and bilateral issues of mutual interest were discussed. It was decided between the two FM's to enhance bilateral cooperation in multiple spheres.
