A day after Fayyazul Chohan was made to resign from his post, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Syed Sumsam Ali Bukhari was sworn on Wednesday as Punjab's new information minister.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar administered oath to Bukhari during a ceremony held at the Governor House in Lahore. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, other ministers and senior officials were also present in the ceremony, local media reported.

Chohan was forced to resign from his post on Tuesday after he made derogatory remarks against the Hindu community following the Pulwama attack. His remarks were criticized by everyone including the PTI government who condemned his remarks.

Later on Chohan apologized and said that he was targeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian armed forces and their media and not the Hindu community in Pakistan.
