The court also allowed PKLI former chief Dr Saeed Akhtar to travel abroad, while abolishing six member adhoc committee formed to run the PKLI affairs.

The three-member bench headed by Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik heard the suo motu notice at Supreme Court Lahore Registry.

At the outset of the proceedings, besides Additional Advocate General Punjab Imtiaz Ahmad Kafi, acting director general Anti-corruption Establishment Punjab and provincial health secretary appeared before the bench and submitted a report in connection with the case.

However, Justice Manzoor inquired from the provincial law officer that under what law the inquiry was being conducted in the PKLI matter.

To which, the law officer replied that a Supreme Court bench had given orders in this regard earlier.

At this, the bench directed to adopt legal course in the matter and disposed of the suo motu notice with a direction to provincial government to run the institute as per PKLI act. The bench also abolished six member adhoc committee formed to run the affairs of the institute.

It is pertinent to mention here that former chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar had taken the suo motu notice over PKLI irregularities. A Supreme Court bench headed by the former chief justice had ordered Anti- corruption Establishment for holding an inquiry in the light of forensic audit report into PKLI irregularities. The bench had restrained PLKI former chief Dr Saeed Akhtar from travelling abroad while forming a six member committee to run the affairs of the institute.
