Five minors die after consuming food from restaurant in Karachi

Five children of a family died on Friday morning while their mother has been hospitalized after consuming food from a restaurant in Saddar, Karachi.

According to the police, the family belonged to Pishin, Quetta and had come to Karachi on Thursday, where they dined at Naubahar restaurant in Saddar. The police further said that according to initial investigation, the five children died from food poisoning, local media reported. The bodies of the children have been shifted to a hospital for postmortem.

The five children have been identified as one-and-a-half-year-old Abdul Ali, four-year-old Aziz Faisal, six-year-old Aliya, seven-year-old Tauheed and nine-year-old Salwa. The police say that the family, before reaching Karachi, had also eaten food from a restaurant in Khuzdar.

Last year, in another similar food poisoning case, 18-month-old Ahmed and five-year-old Muhammad died after they, along with their family, ate food at a restaurant located in Zamzama area and afterwards consumed candy from a shop outside Chunky Monkey. Their mother, Ayesha, was also hospitalized.
