When on one hand smartphone makers like Samsung and Huawei are working towards launching their foldable phones, LG, on the other hand, has denied making one, saying that it’s too early for this.

Tech giant LG Electronics has wowed people with its incredible rollable and curved screen TVs, however, it won’t be another smartphone manufacturer to join in the race of making a foldable phone and instead believes its ‘too early’ to produce one just yet.

The Korea Times quoted, LG mobile and TV head Brian Kwon talked about how rollable TV is ‘an advanced technology one step ahead of foldable technology’. “We have reviewed releasing the foldable smartphone when launching 5G smartphone but decided not to produce it,” said Kwon.

“The market demand for smartphones is expected to be at around 1 million but LG’s main issue in smartphone business is to regain its market position. Considering this situation, it is too early for LG to launch a foldable smartphone. In terms of technology, we are fully ready to respond depending on consumers’ reactions (to foldable smartphones),” he added.

In simpler terms, LG seems to be waiting for the market to first prove that there is a demand in public for foldable phones, and when or if the time comes, the firm would be ready for it, explained Mashable.

Meanwhile, LG is gearing up to launch its other traditional smartphones including the LG G8 ThinQ and the 5G-enabled V50 ThinQ that will be introduced at the Mobile World Congress 2019 starting next week, reported The Verge.
