Lahore High Court dispose off petition challenging govt's Hajj policy

14 Feb, 2019

The Lahore High Court (LHC) disposed off on Thursday a plea challenging Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Government’s Hajj policy for this year.

During the hearing today, the court remarked that how could a court hear a plea against a policy given by the government, local media reported. The high court said that Hajj was an obligation that could be performed by those who can afford it. The court then dismissed the petition.

On Wednesday, a petition was filed in the LHC against the 2019 Hajj policy by the PTI government. The petitioner argued that the government had increased the Hajj expenditure. The petitioner also argued that the new prices were even more as compared to the expenses of a private Hajj.

The petitioner appealed to the court to set aside the new Hajj policy.
