Bilawal Bhutto appeals apex court to remove his name from JIT in fake accounts case

Updated 08 Feb, 2019

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto filed on Friday a review petition in the Supreme Court (SC) to remove his name from the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigating into the fake accounts case.

In his petition, submitted by former attorney general Khalid Javed Khan, Bilawal asks the top court to review its verbal orders in which it had ordered the removal of his name from the JIT. The petition says that the top court's written orders, however, did not mention the removal of his name, local media reported.

Bilawal's name was among the 172 people whose names were placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) by the government after the JIT report mentioned them in the fake accounts case. However, Bilawal's name was removed from the ECL after the SC ordered the government to review its decision.

The SC in its ruling had also said that Bilawal's name should also be removed from the JIT.
