The Counter Terrorism Authority had conducted 6,963 intelligence based operations (IBO) and 81,263 combing operations with the support of local police. Some 179 people were killed in these operations while 24,212 people were arrested. All the operations were conducted on the basis of intelligence. The data was shared by Punjab Home Department in response to a question submitted by PML-N MPA Azma Bukhari during the question hour of Punjab Assembly session on Tuesday.
The session started 1 hour 20 minutes late under the chair of Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. The Speaker while sharing his observation on the question of PPP MPA Shazia Abid regarding number of vehicles of Rescue 1122 in Rajan Pur and their conditions said that the PML-N government had done nothing in the past 10 years to upgrade this department. He said he had requested Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for the upgradation of the department.
The Law minister while responding to the question said that the PML-N govt had not constituted service structure for Rescue 1122 nor did anything for upgradation of services. On second day of the session, PML-N MPAs protested against the government for not issuing production order of opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz. They walked out from the House but PPP MPAs stayed away from the protest. The treasury benches failed to complete the quorum pointed out by the opposition upon which the panel of chair Mian Shafee adjourned the session till Thursday.
