Dengue is now more social problem than medical: Specialists

Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Ameer Uddin Medical College Professor Dr Sardar Mohammad Alfareed Zafar has pointed that dengue is now more social problem than a medical for which each person of society will have to play role to overcome this issue.
While addressing the awareness seminar Principal PGMI Professor Dr Sardar Mohammad Alfareed Zafar said that under the Health Education Programme of Post Graduate Medical Institute doctors of different public and private sector hospitals are being equipped to cope with the challenges of dengue trainings awareness seminar and workshops are also being arranged regularly.
He said that to create awareness about dengue is the need of the hour and continuous process so that each citizen can put share in this national cause. He expressed these views while addressing an awareness seminar held on Dengue here at the auditorium of Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences of LGH where Professor Dr Agha Shabeer Ali, Dr Imran Hassan Khan, MS LGH Dr Mahmud Salah Uddin, Dr Sadia Rana and medical experts delivered there lectures on curbing the dengue.
Principal PGMI Professor Alfareed Zafar announced that separate ward would be established at LGH for epidemic (infections) diseases so that patients could be provided best possible medical cover to meet these kinds of problems. He said that by collective measures for dengue and such diseases could be controlled with best measures and efforts of the government can be also more fruitful.
He called upon the citizens to maintain cleanliness and hygienic atmosphere in streets and around them which would ultimately help them to control the diseases. He said that as far dengue patients are concerned proper record has been maintained at Lahore General Hospital so that in case of need they can be contacted for any information. While addressing the awareness seminar Medical Superintendent of Lahore General Hospital Dr Mahmud Salah Uddin said that in war against dengue, Lahore General Hospital is completely following the directions of Health Department and special treatment is being provided to the concerned patients.
He told that to ensure proper cleanliness in Lahore General Hospital daily spray is being arranged in all the departments so that patients and staff could be saved from dengue. At the end of Seminar, question & answer session also held while awareness literature was also distributed among the participants to update themselves on dengue issue, its precautions and treatment.
