29 Aug, 2019

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi continued diplomatic outreach and telephonically contacted his counterparts from Kuwait Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah and Azerbaijan's Elmar Mammadyarov to apprise them of the latest developments in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K).
According to Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal, the foreign minister spoke with the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah and highlighted the gross human rights violations being committed by the Indian forces in IOJ&K since India's illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019.
He said that the dire human rights and humanitarian situation, resulting from the total lockdown of IOJ&K, requires urgent and effective response from the international community.
He added that international human rights bodies and the global media have highlighted the Indian atrocities, including suppression of religious freedom on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The foreign minister further underlined that India might try to divert the world's attention from these grave human rights violations by staging a false flag operation and placing the blame on Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Qureshi expressed appreciation for Kuwait's constructive engagement as a member of the UN Security Council.
"Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah thanked the foreign minister for his detailed briefing. He noted with concern the deteriorating situation in IOJ&K and underlined the need for preventive steps and peaceful resolution of disputes," the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson said that Qureshi also held telephonic conversation with Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and apprised him of the grave situation in the occupied valley.
He said that the Foreign Minister Mammadyarov expressed concerns over the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and underscored the need for resolving the outstanding issues peacefully to avert the region from any conflict.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Qureshi also chaired a meeting of the Advisory Council on Foreign Policy here at the Foreign Office to take input from the seasoned foreign diplomats.
Qureshi told the Council that the government will go at every forum to rescue innocent Muslims of occupied Kashmir from Indian barbarism. He said that the reports from international media and human rights organisations about atrocities being committed by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir are alarming.
He said that India wants to change the demography of the occupied Jammu and Kashmir through its unilateral actions. Qureshi said Pakistan will continue to extend political, diplomatic and moral support to innocent Kashmiris.
He also apprised the participants of the details of his recent contacts with important members of regional and international world to highlight the Indian atrocities. He also apprised the council of his recent interaction with President Security Council, Secretary General UN Human Rights Commission and Secretary General OIC.
