PTI government refusing to shift Zardari to hospital: Bilawal

28 Aug, 2019

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is refusing to shift former president Asif Ali Zardari to hospital for treatment. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday said in his tweet, "[I] visited my father in jail he is being held without being convicted of any crime. [I] can confirm news below is true. Government doctors advised he be taken to hospital but government is refusing. We are going to court. If anything happens to him, the government will be responsible."
On Monday, after meeting with his father Asif Ali Zardari in Adiala Jail, Bilawal alleged that the PTI government is "attempting to kill" his father by not providing him medical facilities in jail.
Earlier this month, Zardari was shifted to Adiala Jail in connection with the money laundering case. His sister Faryal Talpur, who is in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), was also shifted to Adiala Jail from Polyclinic Hospital at late night on August 11. She had been under house arrest since June 14 after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected her bail in connection with a case pertaining to alleged money laundering through fake bank accounts.
Earlier, an accountability court turned down a request for A-class facilities in jail by Zardari and Talpur; however, they were allowed to avail some facilities such as the use of air-conditioner, television and keeping an attendant at their own expense.
