The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has welcomed the decision of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and Provincial Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai to order the Information and PRs department to carry out necessary amendments to exempt newspapers from the 5% KPRA tax, annual registration fee, ensure monthly payment of government advertisements and immediate payment of outstanding dues of newspapers against government advertisements and sizable increase in the quantum of government advertisements in order to fulfill the long standing demands of CPNE.
In a joint Press statement CPNE vice president Dr Hafiz Sanaullah Khan, CPNE KP committee chairman and joint secretary Tahir Farooq on behalf of the CPNE members, have lauded the prompt action taken by the KP government to resolve the newspapers problems after the CPNE delegation meet with provincial information minister Shaukat Yousafzai.-PR
