Four held, two Kalashnikovs seized in search operations

The city police have started search and combing operations, and enhanced vigilance and patrolling in various areas of the city in order to strengthen security in the capital before the upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram. A senior official of the police said that different teams of police have conducted a search and combing operation in the limits of Koral police station. During the search operation, the police recovered two Kalashnikovs and two pistols from a vehicle and arrested four persons, he said.
He said that search and combing operation will continue in other parts of the city till Muharram-ul-Haram. He said that Deputy Commissioner ICT and Deputy Inspector General (Operations) presided over a meeting regarding Muharram-ul-Haram security. The meeting was attended by religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought as well as other stakeholders.
Similarly, city police reviewed security arrangements in connection with Muharram-ul-Haram during another meeting presided over by the DIG operations. All wings of Islamabad police were given directions to ensure complete coordination for success of this plan. The DIG operations issued directives to ensure strict security arrangements on gatherings and special checking of participants. It should be ensured to make arrangements for checking of participants of Majalis and processions through metal detectors.
