03 Aug, 2019

The National Assembly's session was adjourned on Friday without taking up the agenda of the day due to lack of quorum. Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, who was presiding over the House, had to adjourn the session without any legislative business due to lack of quorum. When the proceedings of the House started, Sheikh Fiazud Din of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) pointed out the lack of quorum. The deputy speaker ordered counting of the members. However, the quorum was not complete and then the deputy speaker suspended proceedings of the House as required numbers were not present.
After half an hour, the deputy speaker again resumed the proceedings and after another count it was found out that the House was again not in order and only 66 members were present in the House. The deputy speaker adjourned the House to meet again on Monday at 4:00 pm.
