02 Feb, 2019

Former Railway Minister Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique were sent on a 14-day judicial remand by an accountability court in the Paragon Housing Society scam case.

The Rafique brothers have been in The National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) custody since last year in December. NAB has accused the Rafique brothers of launching an illegal housing scheme Paragon City (Pvt) Ltd in 2005 on the basis of forged and fabricated documents with chief executive of Paragon City Nadeem Zia and others.

The bureau has also said that both Saad and Salman had received money from the housing society. NAB revealed that both brothers had admitted that they took millions of rupees as commission.

During the hearing today, a NAB team presented the brothers before an accountability court. NAB requested the accountability court Judge Syed Najamul Hassan to extend the physical remand of the brothers till 15 days. However, the court rejected the bureau's request for a physical remand and sent the brothers on a 14 days judicial remand, local media reported.
