Wapda unions observe 'demands day' in Faisalabad

On special orders of Khurshid Ahmed Khan General Secretary WAPDA Hydro Union, All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union and All Pakistan Workers Confederation observed the demands day all over the country against the unemployment, unrest and high rate of inflation.
Labourers raised slogans for their demands and strongly demanded the government to control the inflation and increase their salaries, minimum wages up to one tola gold, and withdrawal of undue taxes immediately.
On this occasion, Regional Chairman Hydro Union Ch Sarfraz Hundal demanded for revision of yardstick in WAPDA, PEPCO and GENCO, new recruitment on vacant posts and timely payment of compensation every month. He also demanded for removal of hurdles in the payment of TA/DA, medical bills, off days wages, piece of work, snap allowance. He demanded for elimination of recent increase in electricity and gas tariff. He demanded to ensure the availability of police force while taking action against power pilferers and recovery by FESCO staff. He also demanded the bucket cranes and other safety gadgets to save the precious lives of line staff, grid staff, M&T staff and drivers.
Senior Vice President All Pakistan Workers Confederation Haji Abdul Jabbar and Bashir Shakir also addressed on this occasion and demanded the government measure for safety of labourers, new recruitment, conversion of service from contract to regular, provision of health facilities and establishment of schools.
