Punjab allocates Rs four billion for sports, youth affairs

With a vision to provide sports infrastructure for sports activities and to train talented players and youth, the Punjab government has allocated a sum of Rs 4.000 billion for Sports & Youth Affairs in its budget 2019-20 as against Rs 2.000 billion were allocated in previous financial year. As per budget document, quantifiable targets for financial year 2019-20 are: construction of 10 Tehsil Sports Complex; three Volleyball ground; multipurpose ground; establishment of youth centre and youth activities project.
New initiatives in FY 2019-20 include: Tehsil Sports Complex at Shujabad District Multan; Dunya Pur District Lodhran; Jahanian District Khanewal; Chaubara District Layyah; Minchanabad District Bahawalnagar; Khanpur District Rahim Yar Khan; Lalian District Chiniot; Ahmadpur Sial District Jhang; Chak Jhumra District Faisalabad; Isa Khail District Mianwali; establishment of Volleyball Ground with Gym facility at Bhairo Tehsil & District Jhang and Kot Khan Tehsil & District Jhang, provision of facilities for prioritized Sports; constriction of multipurpose ground; establishment of Youth Centre and Sports School at Nishtar Park Sports Complex, Lahore.
Sources claimed that the provincial government is striving for promotion of culture of sports activities and developing facilities and infrastructure of sports in the province.
