The landslide victory has thrown up an 'opportunity' for the BJP government to do away with Article 370 of India's constitution that accords special status to occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In one of his 2019 election rallies, BJP chief Amit Shah had said that BJP would scrap Article 370 after forming next government. A day ago, Amnesty International highlighted a slew of repressive measures taken by the BJP government. According to it, laws in Indian-occupied Kashmir allowing imprisonment for up to two years without charge or trial violate national and global justice.
How ironic however it is that the global community appears to be oblivious of Kashmiris' plight.
