Health sector's budged slashed

The government has slashed health outlay in the budget and earmarked Rs 11.05 billion for the health sector in FY 2019-20 against Rs 13.99 billion in the revised budget of 2018-19. According to budget documents, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government reduced the amount for hospital services to Rs 8.7 billion from Rs 11.82 billion in the revised estimates of the current year 2018-19 - a decline of 26.40 percent.
The government has earmarked Rs 463 million for public health services against Rs 465 million of revised budgetary estimates of 2018-19, a reduction of 0.4 percent; and budgeted Rs 1.86 billion for health administration against Rs 1.67 billion of the revised estimates of 2018-19 showing an increase of 11.4 percent. The government has made no change in the budget for medical products, appliances and equipments and has earmarked Rs 31 million on this account which is the same amount as in the revised budgetary estimates of 2018-19.
