District administration and Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) penalized 60 commuters' vehicles for overcharging commuters returning the provincial capital after Eid-ul-Fitr vacations. On public complaints regarding overcharging by the transporters, the district administration and PTA carried special checking of the public transport at Motorway Toll Plaza and Kohat Road.
During the checking the joint teams found that transporters were fleecing the commuters through overcharging. The teams recovered the overcharged fares and distributed them in the commuters.
The joint teams the district administration and PTA were comprised of Tehsildar Mujahid Khan, Naib Tehsildar Hamayun Akhand and traffic police officials.
The general public has appreciated the crackdown of the district administration and PTA against the transporters' mafia involved in overcharging the commuters.
