As many as 6.4 million local and foreign tourists are likely to visit different scenic places across Khyber Pakhtukhwa during upcoming summer season. This was stated by KP Senior Minister Mohammad Atif Khan while presiding over a meeting. The meeting reviewed facilities available for tourists in the upcoming season. The meeting was attended by Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Mansehra, Commissioner Malakand Division and Deputy Commissioner, Swat.
The meeting was told that 2.2 million tourists will arrive in Swat, 2.5 million in Galyat and 1.7 million in Naran and Kaghan. The meeting was further told that KP has huge tourism potential and the government was taking necessary steps to generate revenue by attracting both domestic and foreign tourists.
He said decision had already been taken for appointment of 600 tourism police personnel and the task in this regard had been done by IGP who had identified persons for the force.
He said the force actually meant for providing guidance to local and foreign tourists so that they could enjoy the scenic beauty of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said the government had identified 20 different sites including four in the merged tribal areas. He said pods had been installed at Bishgram Swat, Sharan Forest Khaghan and Tandiyani. Atif Khan directed the local concerned administration to make sure excellent arrangements for smooth flow of traffic, cleanliness, security and health facilities for visiting tourists.
He also directed district administration to identify locations for rafting, paragliding, zig-lining, water sports and hiking and horse riding. He directed local administration to take steps for acquisition of land at new tourist resorts.
