Special Representative of the Russian President on Afghanistan, Ambassador Zamir Kabulov, met on Tuesday Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi at the foreign office.

The Russian envoy had earlier landed in Islamabad and was welcomed by the Russian embassy and the senior officials of the foreign office. During the meeting today, Kabulov appreciated Pakistan's role and efforts for Afghan peace and reconciliation.

Qureshi reiterated that Pakistan would continue to play its role for peace in Afghanistan. The two sides also discussed mutual interests of regional and international matters, with particular reference to Afghan peace process.

Earlier, the ambassador had also met Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua. The Russian envoy is on a two-day visit to the country.
