Safety gadgets: LHC approached against car makers

A bar member has approached the Lahore High Court with prayer to direct the cars manufacturing companies to ensure provision of safety gadgets in their vehicles including anti-lock braking system and airbags. The petitioner Safdar Shaheen said that none of the vehicles shall be released unless they meet the international safety measures. The petitioner also asked the court to direct the provincial transport department and police to furnish a detailed report of accidents of automobile, cars in which safety measures have been compromised.
The petitioner urged the government to pay compensation to legal heirs of those lost their lives due to miserable safety standards of the cars. The lawyer also pleaded to direct the traffic police to cancel licenses of those unable to drive properly and not allow all the below age of 18.
