Crackdown against filers of fake FIRs begins

The Sindh police have initiated crackdown against those involved in registration of fake First Information Reports (FIRs) of crimes at different police stations across the province. According to details, released from Directorate Press Sindh Police, as many as 26 persons have been convicted by the courts concerned under sections 182 and 211 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for getting fake and bogus FIRs registered at different police stations.
On directives of Inspector General IG Sindh Dr Kalim Imam, the police initiated a week-long drive from March, 28 till April 3, 2019, and sent such cases to the courts for granting appropriate conviction orders.
District Ghotki remains at the top among other districts with 25 applications were sent to the courts which include registration of 2 fake cases of attempt of murder, two pertaining to sexual harassment, 7 abduction, 3 injuries, five bogus theft cases and two other.
Similar cases of fake FIRs were also surfaced in District Korangi of the metropolis, and the accused were given punishment orders by the courts concerned under the said PPC sections.
