Message from World Bank's Country Director for Pakistan

12 May, 2019

I would like to congratulate the Sindh Building Control Authority on the launching of construction permits automation and a modern customer service-oriented single-window facility. This is an important milestone for the country. I would also like to laud the efforts of departments that completed several reforms as part of a series of 100 Days DB Reform Sprints. I'll also commend the efforts being made by Investment Department Sindh for ensuring that on-going Reform Sprints continue as part of a marathon to improve Pakistan DB score to 50 by 2023.
These reforms are essential to realize Pakistan's vision for job creation, allow entrepreneurship to thrive, and bring in much needed private investment. However, it is critical that the reform momentum is sustained. DB reforms and broader investment climate modernization need to be a permanent feature of public-private regulatory interface in Sindh, and in Pakistan. It will help the country to become a single competitive and business-friendly investment destination confidently.
