Slightly above normal rainfall likely in country

The Met office on Friday forecast a slightly above normal rainfall in the country in May 2019, saying that the heat waves may develop in plains in the last two weeks of the month. In a weather forecast for May 2019, it said that the country is expected to receive a slightly above normal rainfall with temperature remaining average. However, southern parts of the country including Sindh and parts of Balochistan may witness above normal temperature during the month.
"Normal Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) and positive El Nino are forecasted to persist throughout the month, while North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is swinging along the neutral values during the forecast period," the Met said. Drought: An isolated light rain is expected in parts of Sindh and Balochistan this week. However some districts of Sindh including Badin, Sajawal, Sanghar, Thatta, Umerkot and Tharparkar are likely to remain under a moderate drought over the period. Wet conditions may prevail over the most parts of the country.
