Illegal housing societies: CDA seals 213 premises, razes 25 shops on park land

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has accelerated the pace of operation against illegal housing societies in the federal capital, as 213 more premises, including property offices have been sealed. The Enforcement Directorate, Planning Wing of the Authority, ICT administration, local police and other concerned authorities began operation against phase-VI and phase-VII of Ghauri Town. Some 213 premises, including shops, real estate offices and other buildings were sealed.
Furthermore, 25 illegally-constructed shops on the land reserved for a park in the society were also demolished. The land got vacated from illegal occupation. Similarly, four sheds and two main entry points of the society were also demolished. Another property office namely 'Green Spire' located in Pak PWD was also sealed by the CDA. The Authority reiterated that unauthorised constructions in the city would not be tolerated.
It said that the areas reserved for amenities in the societies plan would not be allowed to be utilises for commercial or any other purposes and strict action would be taken to prevent such violations. The CDA said those elements misleading and motivating the general public inviting them to invest in illegal housing societies would not be allowed to operate.
The offices of real estate agents in the locality involved in sale and purchase of plots in Ghauri Town and management offices established for its marketing are being sealed. It is being done to curtail further construction and stop sale purchase in the society. It is pertinent to mention here that CDA had warned the general public through publication of public notices in national dailies many a times that they ought not to make investments in the said housing society.
The CDA reiterated its alert that general public should not invest in the illegal housing societies. General public has also been requested to intimate and report the CDA regarding unauthorised use of amenities plots reserved in the societies so that strict action could be taken against such violations.
