Heat wave to continue in Karachi

The Met Office on Saturday said that heat wave in the city is expected to continue with temperature ranging up to 40 degrees Celsius in days to come. However, mercury level is likely to fall by up to 3 degrees Celsius during the daytime. "The north/northwest-directed wind flow of 08-12kts is likely to dominate during Saturday and from Sunday onward gradually return to west/southwest," the met said.
It said that the authorities and all stakeholders should continue their efforts of precautionary measures to meet any untoward weather related incident. Hot and dry weather is expected in Karachi in the next 48 hours with temperature easing out to 36 degrees Celsius and humidity to 80 percent on Sunday and Monday. Maximum temperature was recorded in Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Chhor and Mithi as 44 degrees Celsius, each, and Jaccobabad, Lasbella, Padidan, Sukkur, Hyderabad and Turbat 43, each. Balakot received 4mm of rainfall and Astore 2mm in the last 24 hours, as hot weather gripped the most parts of the country.
In the next 24 hours mainly hot and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country while very hot in south Punjab and Sindh. However, an isolated rain-thunderstorm is expected in Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas. "Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country," the Met said.
