PM likely to visit Iran shortly

Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to make a maiden visit to Iran ahead of his 27 April scheduled visit to China. "The precise date for the visit has not yet been finalised but it is confirmed that the Prime Minister will undertake a maiden visit to Tehran soon," diplomatic sources told this correspondent, adding the visit may take place before Prime Minister Khan's April 27 scheduled visit to China.
Prime Minister Khan has been planning to visit to Iran since he was sworn in as Prime Minister last year in August, sources added.
A senior Iranian diplomat on condition of anonymity said that Tehran was looking forward to receiving Prime Minister Khan. "Pakistan and Iran are two brotherly Islamic nations and there is a commitment at the top level of the two countries that no 'third party' should be allowed to spoil their brotherly trust and friendship," he said.
The diplomat further stated that the need of the hour was to ensure that the two countries ensured that their soil was not used to launch a terror attack on the other.
When contacted, a spokesperson for Iranian Embassy in Islamabad said the Embassy was yet to receive any official communication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with regard to Prime Minister's visit to Iran.
