Government urged to reopen BRT route's service roads

Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) president Faiz Mohammad Faizi has expressed serious concerns over closure of service road adjacent to the ongoing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route and demanded to open it immediately.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, the SCCI president stated that the BRT is situated in the mid of main Grand Trunk Road, so the closure of service road adjacent to GT road has not only created difficult to easy access of consumers to CNG and petrol pumps but it also created problems for people, residing alongside service roads. He demanded the immediate opening of service roads.
Faiz Mohammad said the BRT had disordered the traffic system from Chamkani and Hayatabad due to being narrow of the Grand Trunk Road of their both sides. He said trade and business activities have also adversely affected since the launch of project, while the situation is further deteriorated after the closure of service road.
SCCI chief said the basic purpose of constructing service road is to ensure smooth traffic flow on roads, besides to avoid creation of any hurdle in transportation to travellers and residents as well as on routes of CNG stations and petrol pumps. But, he said the closure of service roads causing difficulties for business community and locals.
Faizi said the all CNG stations and petrol pumps formally issued NoC by seven different departments and government institutions, after which they constructed but owners of CNG stations and petrol pumps are being faced with financial issues due to closure entry points of service roads.
He demanded the immediate opening of entry points of service roads in order to make easiness for masses instead of creating more problems for them, otherwise, miseries of the business community would be multiplied and the government will also face strong reaction from their side.
