Business leaders hail PM's Karachi Package

Business community has welcomed Prime Minister Imran Khan's announcement regarding Rs 162 billion package for Karachi. United Business Group patron-in-chief S.M Muneer said that the package is need of the hour to improve infrastructure of the city which is in very bad shape. He said Karachi was facing acute shortage of water and public transport, its roads are damaged, sewerage system collapsed and heaps of garbage are seen everywhere.
He said Karachi is economic hub of the country where the dilapidated infrastructure badly affects its residents and the business community. UBG spokesman Gulzar Feroz said that Karachi is contributing more than half of exports and revenue of the country but the city still facing basic utilities issues. "New it is hoped that the situation will improve considerably," he said.
UBG sectary general Zubair Tufail proposed that a committee comprising of representatives of FPCCI be formed to monitor development work in the city.
He said now it is time for both federal and provincial governments to make strong strategies for lasting improvement in infrastructures in the city. Senator Haseeb Khan appreciated the seriousness of the Prime minister that he announced package for Karachi. "Development of Karachi this port city will have better impact on the entire country and its economic activities," he said.
