PTI government printed currency notes worth Rs 100 billion last month, claims PPP

29 Mar, 2019

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government printed currency notes worth Rs 100 billion last month. "I am astonished which type of economic policy has been adopted by the PTI government to show the right way to the people. The government has obtained Rs 3,500 billion record loan during its six months. The inflation is increasing day by day due to wrong economic policy of the government," PPP Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira expressed these views in a news conference here on Thursday.
PPP leader Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, Media Coordinator Nazir Dhoki and others were also present on this occasion.
Kaira said that the PTI government has presented third budget in the Parliament during its six months and increased the prices of electricity, oil and gas products and other commodities many times. Now, the government, once again, is going to increase the price of electricity, he said. "We strongly condemn the government on these actions and urge to take measures for the relief of the common people," he said.
"The government is snatching jobs of the people instead of providing opportunities of employment," he said.
The PPP leader said that as many as 21,000 fake students' enrolment out of 41,000 students in six months in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts was detected. He said that under Iqra Farogh-e-Taleem Voucher Scheme (IFTVS), the PTI provincial government is funding millions of rupees to the "fake" students as well as the "ghost" schools from public kitty without conducting any audit.
He said that the government is giving lollypops to the poor in the name of hens and goats. He said that Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is a good and comprehensive programme which has been recognised by the international agencies. The PTI government should run this programme in a better way to decrease poverty in the country.
The PPP leader said, "We respect the courts and follow their orders in spite of reservations." He said that most the cases on party leaders are registered with mala fide intention.
He said that many party workers have been arrested during the appearance of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asif Ali Zardari and other leaders before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team. He urged the government to immediately release these workers.
Answering a question, the PPP leader said the purpose of 'Train March' of Bilawal is neither seeking any National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) nor pressuring the government but it is a mass campaign of the party.
When asked why parliamentary leaders of opposition parties refused to attend the meeting called by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qurashi on National Action Plan (NAP), he said that NAP, terrorism and security issues are related to Interior Ministry, not Foreign Office. He said that Interior Ministry should have invited the opposition.
When asked about the refusal of the Prime Minister to hold direct consultation with opposition leader as required under the Constitution, the PPP leader said, "The attitude of the Prime Minister is not democratic but fascist. He neither respects the Parliament nor follows the Constitution of the country."
PPP leader Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed said that his party is going to approach the court over non-registration of a case against Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed by Rawalpindi police. "We are also going to approach the court if the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) does not proceed against those people who individually announced Jihad in Faizabad sit-in in the past," he added.
