22 Mar, 2019

Former President Asif Ali Zardari and Emir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman Thursday held a meeting to discuss current political situation of the country. The meeting was held here at the residence of the JUI-F emir. Deputy Chairman Senate Saleem Mandviwalla was also present on this occasion. According to sources, both the leaders discussed the current political situation. They also discussed the joint opposition's stance on different national issues including the National Action Plan (NAP) and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) current actions.
Rehman, who is also the emir of religious parties' alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), said during the meeting that the present ruling alliance led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is a group of total incompetent people.
The JUI-F emir said that the government actions against workers of political parties, especially religious political parties, show that it is not serious in implementing the NAP, but is oppressing opposition parties through the NAB and other state institutions.
He added that the NAB actions are not aimed at ending corruption but are meant for taking revenge from opposition parties which are not agreeing to the PTI agenda. He also said that the MMA will not participate in the upcoming meeting called by Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss and review implementation of the NAP after recent tension between Pakistan and India.
Zardari in his latest move to expedite political activities after lashing at the government for its alleged incompetence and inability to govern the country is likely to consult the other political leaders.
The incumbent government has completely failed in providing any relief to the masses, Zardari said, adding that instead of facilitating the masses the government has put all the focus against the opposition parties.
Both the leaders expressed dissatisfaction over the PTI performance. Zardari said that the federal government has completely failed in giving relief to the people, adding that it is only doing politics of revenge against the opposition.
Rehman condemned the torture and arrests of PPP workers and termed the actions of the NAB as revenge politics. He further added that the government is not serious in implementing the NAP and announced to boycott of the governments' session.
