Customers of different banks are facing problems in receiving currency notes of various denominations, particularly those of Rs100, Rs500 and Rs1000. They said bankers were not providing currency notes of smaller denominations citing the reason that they were short of such currency notes. A good number of customers were found struggling for these notes on Wednesday.
Bankers, on the other hand, said the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) was not issuing currency notes of smaller denomination leading to its shortage in the market. They said the shortage is without rhyme and reason as no such circular is on record that could explain the reason behind the shortage.
