Ministry of Interior has approached Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet for release of technical grant of Rs 769 million extended by the US embassy Islamabad for four projects, well-informed sources told Business Recorder.
International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Pakistan (INL-P), the US Embassy Islamabad has approved four projects implementation letters, i.e upgradation of FC KP( North) Training Centre at Warsak, construction of Fata levies Training Centre at Shakas, construction of 10 Fata Levies posts and extension and renovation of FIA office building, Islamabad and construction of FIA Zonal Office Punjab, Lahore.
Finance Division (BE-II section) had advised the State Bank of Pakistan to credit the received amount to the federal government (non-food) account under the head G13-special deposit-grant 131-grant in aid-G-13127 and technical assistance from US government.
State Bank of Pakistan has released the amount to Finance Division which is as follows: Rs 289 million for Fata levies Training Centre at Shakas, Rs 302.67 million for upgradation of FC KP (North) Training Centre at Warsak, Rs 166.684 million for construction of 10 Fata levies check-posts, Rs 10.50 million for extension and renovation of FIA office building, Islamabad and construction of FIA Zonal Office Punjab, Lahore.
According to the Ministry of Interior, no funds of the government of Pakistan are involved in these projects. Funds for headquarters KP north are second installment for the current financial year 2018-19.
As per decision of the federal cabinet taken in the 17th meeting held on February 7, 2019 in future the cabinet will consider proposals for technical supplementary grant only while matters related to sanctioning of supplementary grants shall be cleared on the recommendations of the ECC.
Interior Ministry has sought an approval of the ECC for release of Rs 769 million (Grant in aid) as technical supplementary grant under 130 development expenditure of Interior Division for further release to HQs FC(N) KP, Peshawar and grant ID 8316 (Extension and renovation of FIA building Islamabad and Lahore).
