Prices of essential kitchen items increased further during this week past as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed an increase in the prices of most of the vegetables and chicken while fruit prices witnessed a mixed trend. The survey observed no change in the prices of non-perishable items including ghee/cooking oil, pulses, rice, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Chicken prices went up from Rs 4,800 per 40kg to Rs 5,000 per 40kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 165 per kg against Rs 145 per kg, while chicken meat was being sold at Rs 280 per kg against Rs 250 per kg. Egg prices witnessed no change which were available at Rs 110 per dozen in wholesales market while in retail market they were being sold at Rs 120 per dozen.
Onion price went up from Rs 130 per 5kg to Rs 140 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35-40 per kg against Rs 30-35 per kg, tomatoes prices went up from Rs 425 per 5kg to Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, and potatoes prices went down from Rs 90 per 5kg to Rs 80 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 20 per kg against Rs 20-25 per kg.
Local garlic prices remained stable in the range of Rs 300-400 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 70-95 per kg, while Chinese garlic price went up from Rs 500 per 5kg to Rs 525 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 145 per kg against Rs 140 per kg, and local ginger price remained stable at Rs 750 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 180 per kg.
Capsicum price went up from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 475 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 120-125 per kg; yam (arvi) price went up from Rs 230 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 60-65 per kg; carrot price went up from Rs 140 per 5kg to Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 35 per kg, radish price went up from Rs 100 per 8kg pack to Rs 120 per 8kg pack which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg against Rs 20 per kg, and peas price remained stable at Rs 175 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 50 per kg.
Cucumber price went down from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 175 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 50 per kg, cauliflower price remained stable at 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40 per kg, cabbage price went up from Rs 80 per 5kg to Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg against Rs 20 per kg.
Okra price went up from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 475 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 125 per kg, brinjal price went up from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 180 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 40 per kg and ridge gourd (tori) price remained stable at Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100 per kg. Pumpkin price remained unchanged at Rs 330 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 75-80 per kg, tinda price went from Rs 180 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 40-45 per kg, beans price further went up from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 85 per kg against Rs 65-70 per kg, bitter gourd (Kareela) price remained stable at Rs 600 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 170 per kg against Rs 125 per kg.
Prices of all the major pulses also witnessed no change as fine quality white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 170 per kg, while normal quality at Rs 135 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 170 per kg and normal quality grams at Rs 130 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 130-170 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) at Rs 130 per kg. Wheat flour price remained stable at Rs 785 per 20kg bag.
Ghee/cooking oil prices also witnessed no change as normal quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 150 per kg/litre pack, while best quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 1,030 per 5 kg/litre tin, and prices of sugar, formula milk Nido/Everyday and packed spices also remained stable.
Overall fruit prices remained stable as Pakistan Kala Kolo was available at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 140, Iranian Kala Kolo at Rs 170 per kg, golden apple at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, white apple was available at Rs 90 per kg and Ambri apple was available at Rs 85 per kg against Rs 75 per kg.
Good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 90 per dozen, normal quality banana in the range of Rs 60-70 per dozen, while Indian banana was being sold at Rs 190 per dozen. Guava prices remained stable as good quality guava was available at Rs 80 per kg and normal quality guava was being sold at Rs 50-55 per kg.
Best quality oranges were being sold at Rs 160 per dozen against Rs 145 per dozen, Khanpuri Shakri Malta at Rs 145 per dozen against Rs 140 per dozen, normal quality kinnow in the range of Rs 50-80 per dozen while pomegranate at Rs 190 per kg, sapodilla (cheeko) at Rs 125 per kg and Papaya was being sold at Rs 110 per kg.
