Amer Magsi elected chairman of NA body

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs in a meeting unanimously elected Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi, MNA, as its chairman on Thursday. The special secretary National Assembly Secretariat welcomed the members and briefed about the procedure for election of the chairman.
The meeting was held in the Parliament House Shortly after the secretary's briefing, the committee member Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali proposed the name of Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi as chairman of the committee while Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Lal Chand and Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh seconded his candidature.
As there was no other candidate to contest the position, Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi was unanimously elected as chairman of the committee. The special secretary National Assembly Secretariat congratulated the newly elected chairman on behalf of the speaker and assured him full support from the secretariat for effective and efficient functioning of the committee.
Speaking on the occasion, the committee chairman expressed his gratitude to the members for posing confidence in him and assured them to run the business of the committee with consensus.
Minister Maritime Affairs, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi congratulated the chairman and assured him of his and his ministry's support.
The members while appreciating views of the committee chairman assured him their support in the process of legislation and oversight of the committee.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Muhammad Yaqoob Sahikh, Rana Qasim Noon, Faheem Khan, Saif Ur Rehman, Abdul Shakoor Shad, Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali, Nuzhat Pathan, Lal Chand, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Begum Tahira Bokhari, Kesoo Mal Kheeal Das and Abdul Qadir Patel, besides the senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat.
