July-January exports up 2.24 percent YoY

Exports during July-January 2018-19 witnessed an increase of 2.24 percent from $12.94 billion to $13.2 billion as compared to July-January 2017-18, said Pakistan Bureau of Statistic (PBS). The PSB data on the country's exports, imports and trade balance released here Monday said during the aforementioned period, imports witnessed a decline of 5.17 percent from $34.3 billion to $32.5 billion. During July-January period, the balance of the trade of the country witnessed a reduction of 9.66 percent from $21.3 billion to $19.27 billion.
While on a monthly basis, the imports increased by 1.35 percent from $4.44 billion to $4.5 billion. The exports during January 2019 as compared to December 2018 witnessed a decline of 1.8 percent as they stood at $ 2.08 billion in December 2018 which in January 2019 came down to $2.04 billion. According to the PBS provisional figures, exports from Pakistan during January 2019 in Pakistani rupee terms remained Rs 283.4 billion against Rs 287.8 billion in December 2018. During the period Pakistan's balance of trade registered an increase of 4.10 percent from $ 2.37 billion in December 2018 to $ 2.46 billion in January 2019.
While on year-on-year basis, Pakistani exports witnessed an increase of 3.97 percent from $1.97 billion in January 2018 to $2.04 billion in January 2019. The country's imports during the period witnessed a reduction of 19.14 percent from $5.57 billion in January 2018 to $4.5 billion. The balance of trade during the period witnessed a decline of 31.7 percent from $3.6 billion to $2.47 billion.
