Contempt notices against ex-AGP withdrawn

The Supreme Court on Wednesday withdrew contempt notices against former Attorney General for Pakistan Irfan Qadir in the Arsalan Iftikhar and Malik Riaz cases. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa heard the contempt notices against former Attorney General Irfan Qadir.
Former CJP Jawad S Khawaja had issued contempt of court notices to Irfan Qadir in Arsalan Iftikhar case for concealing the fact that he had represented Malik Riaz as his counsel in the high courts. The second contempt notice was issued, asking him why he had named ex-CJP Chaudhry Iftikhar in the contempt case against Malik Riaz.
The bench headed by Chief Justice will take up the matter related to suspension of practicing licence of the former Attorney General Irfan Qadir today (Thursday). The court had suspended the licence of Irfan Qadir in the case related to the purchase of Rs 1.23 billion APCs from a Serbian company for Sindh police to fight terrorism in Karachi.
