Tremors also felt in Karachi: Quake jolts parts of KP

A 5.8 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) including Peshawar, Lower Dir and Kohat and adjoining districts on Saturday evening. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department's National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the earthquake took place at a depth of 208 kilometres in the Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan at a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale.
The quake tremors were felt in northern parts of the country, the cities including Lower Dir, Kohat, Mianwali, DI Khan, Sargodha, Islamabad and its surrounding areas. Tremors were also felt in Upper Dir, Nowshera, Swat and surrounding areas. The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.8 on the Richter scare and its epicentre was the Hindukush Mountains in Afghanistan.
Earlier, earthquake tremors were felt in Karachi. The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 2.9 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was 15 kilometres north of Karachi. The tremors were felt in Landhi, Korangi and surrounding areas.
