FX volumes dip in December

13 Jan, 2019

Daily currency trading volumes were broadly unchanged in December from a year-ago period but declined from November, totalling $1.56 trillion, CLS data showed on Monday. CLS, a major settler of trades in the foreign exchange market, said in a statement that the average daily traded volume of currencies submitted to it in December was down 7.4 percent from November's total of $1.68 trillion.
Foreign exchanges volumes rose sharply in the first half of 2018 as volatility in currency markets picked up, but the second six months of the year saw more muted growth in turnover.
