CJP says never interfere in any others' domain

Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said, "I founded judicial activism with good intention but never interfered in any others' domain." Addressing a farewell ceremony arranged by the Lahore High Court Bar Association, the CJP said, "Purpose of launching judicial activism was not to snatch anybody's powers and I might have been strict but only for the rule of law and not to insult anyone."
The CJP said, it was not any aggression to domain of the executive authority and added, I always keep this line in mind during the proceedings of the court. He said it was in his mind to redress the grievances of people by ensuring resources to them and I did so with good intention only.
The top judge said, the Supreme Court and high courts have jurisdiction to get certain laws imposed required for ensuring justice and I performed my duty. The CJP said respect for the judiciary had reduced and asked the judges to perform their duties while considering it a service to the nation rather than a job.
Pointing out the weaknesses of the judicial system, the CJP said, "It is not a level of the High Court that it hears the cases of registration of an FIR and added a High Court is supposed to hear some constitutional cases." "We are ourselves conducting our accountability and hopefully, bar councils will also do the same", said the CJP, adding only two cases had remained in the Supreme Judicial Council today.
He said bar members are integral part of the judicial system and they have to make their position with passion and hard work and they have a number of examples of their seniors, the CJP added. The Chief Justice said he was going to give a big gift to the nation in the form of police reforms and added new reforms would reduce the difficulties of the litigants.
