President approves: Justice Khosa's appointment as CJP

President Dr Arif Alvi Wednesday approved a summary for appointment of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa as new chief justice of Pakistan. According to a notification issued by the Law Ministry, "The President is pleased to appoint Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, the most senior judge of the Supreme Court, as Chief Justice of Pakistan with effect from 18.01.2019."
The Ministry of Law and Justice had submitted the summary to the President for approval. The President approved the summary and now the incumbent Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will retire on January 17 after which Justice Asif Saeed Khosa will take oath of office on January 18.
The Ministry of Law has appointed Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, the senior most judge of the Supreme Court, after President Dr Arif Alvi approved the summary to appoint him as chief justice.
