ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC)’s single member bench Monday sent a contempt of court case against Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to Chief Justice IHC for further proceeding.

Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC conducted the hearing of the case, filed by a senior official of FIA Inaam Ghani, seeking contempt of court proceeding against DG FIA.

The petitioner had stated in his plea that a junior officer of the FIA had issued notice to him in an inquiry against him. The court had earlier ordered to shift the inquiry to a senior officer but the junior officer again served notice to him in violation of court orders, he said.

He prayed the court to initiate a contempt of court proceedings against the FIA DG and the junior officer, besides barring the FIA inquiries against him.

During hearing, the bench observed that Chief Justice Athar Minallah had already heard the relevant cases and ordered to sent the matter to him.
